Deepthrust
The brainchild of DJ Batuta, an urban legend in New Delhi's
Electronica circuit, where the name embodies a state of mind
in which he visualizes his musical direction, diving deep below
the surface.
Having played at almost every club in Delhi since 2000, Batuta
took the Deepthrust banner beyond the border, touring extensively
in Austria, Germany, Portugal and France where he respectively
earned his title as one of the best Indian DJs on the International
Electronica stage.
He has a notorious reputation for high energy rhythms and melodic
bass filled house and break beat, sitting mischievously on the pulse
of the crowd focusing on the art of live sound delivery by controlling
the masses with a meticulously planned play list, masterfully blended
using an arsenal of computer programs, vinyl turntables and a midi-mixer.
In 2006, Deepthrust opened its arms to Nitin Sukh a.k.a Vokab, a highly
acclaimed spoken word poet and lyricist from the U.K. Vokab stumbled
onto the music scene in Manchester, organizing hip hop battle events at
University, often competing himself and stunning audiences with his word
play and abstract lyrical flow. Circa 2003, he became the European on-line
lyrical battle champion after competing head to head with almost 300
participants.
Battling aside, his poetry veers towards spiritualism, pacifism and
sociological revolution. Having joined the Deepthrust camp, he is now
adding some extra arnishing to Batuta's already tasty and twisted recipe
to dance floor bliss.
Deepthrust now operates a digital music studio and music management
company in Delhi working on some exciting projects due for independent
release in 2008.
Some have described Deepthrust's sound 'underground', but times are
changing, India is shooting in a new a direction where the listener's
ears are opening up and this duo's noise is being heard.
So sound the drums and let the games begin.
